Privacy Policy for KrugerGuide App

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

This privacy policy applies to the KrugerGuide mobile application (the "Application" or "Service") developed by Kruger Guide (Pty) Ltd, 17 Wexford Road, Vredehoek, Cape Town, 8001 (referred to as "the Company," "we," "us," or "our") and our website.

The Application is provided as a Freemium service "AS IS." By using our Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

This privacy policy complies with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Should any provision be void or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from the remaining parts, which shall continue in full force and effect.

2. Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

  • Account: means a unique account created for You to access our Service or parts of our Service

3.1 Personal Data

While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Account credentials: usernames, passwords, password hints, and similar security information
  • Contact details: email address, first name and last name
  • Subscription information: in-app purchases and premium features activated
  • User content: comments, feedback, search queries, and other information you provide
  • Preferences: communication preferences, language settings, and interests

Registration is not mandatory, but some features may require an account to function properly.

3.2 Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service and may include:

  • Device information: Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, Device type, unique device ID, mobile operating system, mobile Internet browser type
  • Service interaction: pages visited, time and date of visit, time spent on pages, unique device identifiers, diagnostic data
  • Performance data: error reports, crash analytics, and app performance metrics

3.3 Information from Third-Party Social Media Services

The Company allows You to create an account and log in to use the Service through the following Third-party Social Media Services:

  • Google
  • Apple Sign-in

If You decide to register through or grant us access to a Third-Party Social Media Service, We may collect Personal Data already associated with Your Third-Party Social Media Service's account, such as Your name, email address, activities, or contact list.

3.4 Information Collected While Using the Application

While using Our Application, in order to provide features of Our Application, We may collect, with Your prior permission:

  • Location information: Information regarding your location (approximate geographical location)
  • Camera and photos: Pictures and other information from your Device's camera and photo library

You can enable or disable access to this information at any time through Your Device settings.

4. Location Information

The Application collects your Device's approximate location to provide:

  • Geolocation services: personalized content, relevant recommendations, and location-based features
  • Analytics and improvements: aggregated location data to analyze user behavior and improve the Application
  • Third-party services: anonymized location data may be shared with external services to enhance functionality

We do not collect precise real-time location information. The information may be uploaded to the Company's servers and/or a Service Provider's server or may be simply stored on Your Device.

5. Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

Essential Services:

  • To provide and maintain our Service: including monitoring usage of our Service
  • To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration and provide access to different functionalities available to registered users
  • For the performance of a contract: development, compliance and undertaking of purchase contracts for products, items or services through the Service
  • To contact You: By email, telephone calls, SMS, push notifications regarding updates, security updates, or informative communications related to functionalities, products or contracted services
  • To manage Your requests: To attend and manage Your requests to Us
  • To comply with legal obligations: resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
  • To provide You with news and offers: about other goods, services and events similar to those you have purchased or enquired about, unless You have opted not to receive such information
  • For business transfers: to evaluate or conduct mergers, restructuring, or other business transfers where Personal Data is among the assets transferred
  • For other purposes: data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining effectiveness of promotional campaigns, and improving our Service, products, and your experience

6. Sharing of Your Personal Information

We may share Your personal information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: to monitor and analyze use of our Service, to contact You, who work under strict confidentiality agreements

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse

Retention periods:

  • Personal Data: retained while you use the Service and for a reasonable time thereafter
  • Usage Data: retained for up to 24 months, then stored in aggregate form for internal analysis

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in processing are located.   • Verification: We may require identity verification for security purposes

Please note that We may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

Opt-Out Options

  • Uninstall: stop all data collection by uninstalling the Application through standard uninstall processes
  • Device settings: adjust settings for location access, camera access, and notifications
  • Communication preferences: manage marketing and promotional communications in account settings

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us at hello@kruger.guide.

If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

11. Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Service Providers

The Application uses third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google Analytics for Firebase
  • Firebase Crashlytics

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.

We will let You know via email and/or a prominent notice on Our Service prior to the change becoming effective when changes are material.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
